Responsible Investing: Risks, Returns and Results
Socially responsible investing has for many years been synonymous with one area of concern: a company’s impact on the environment. But as investors increasingly desire to align their portfolios with their principals, we've moved beyond “green investing” to consider how to avoid companies that negatively impact people - employees, customers, suppliers and their communities - and seek out companies that have a positive impact through their products, operations, policies and purpose. But how to identify which is which? How to consider and measure impact? How can we use our investments to help companies on their journey to becoming more socially responsible?
Social investing expert Travis Allen (Senior Investment Strategist and National Managing Director at AB Bernstein) advises high-net-worth clients, endowments and foundations nationwide on how to align with the new demands of socially responsible investing. He will explain how socially responsible investing - when done right - can be both a prudent and principled approach for us as investors (who must balance risk and return) and conscious capitalists (with our focus on ethics, morals and principals).
In our talk, Travis will provide pathways for us as individual investors to seek out these companies on our own and give advice for companies who wish to attract such investments.
